In it, she desires to eat the flesh of the Buddhist monk Tang San Zang in order to achieve immortality. She comes to him and his posse in various forms to trick him however is eventually revealed to be the White Bone Spirit and is killed by Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. I watched various adaptations of the story on tv growing up in Singapore and I was always fascinated by the demons featured in the story. I wanted to put my own spin on the character and create a more macabre version of her. She initially began as a doll I designed when @sideshow @sideshow_doll kindly offered to send me a doll base to customize and I picked their Muse of Bone doll as a base. The novel describes her as wearing white gauze for her clothes and I thought the aesthetic of blood staining the ends of her sleeves and dress would be a striking visual. I wanted her face to be skeletal and monstrous so she would be beautiful and seductive until she removed her mask.
