Most of us know someone who struggles with alcohol addiction. Yet only 7% of Americans with an alcohol use disorder received treatment last year. Even then, current treatments remain largely ineffective. However, in a randomized clinical trial, patients treated with psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy reduced their drinking by 83% within eight months of their first dose — and nearly half stopped drinking completely.
