With the rise of reels, it might appear that ‘before and after’ room transformations are as simple as a transitional finger click. In fact, I always find redoing a room really hard work. The bathroom was a real slog: stripping wallpaper that didn’t come off easily, loads of filling, sanding, painting, getting rid of old silicone, repairing crumbling brick and fixing a rotten window- the list goes on! I’d work on it any hour I could - late into the night every night, early in the morning while everyone else slept, snatched hours at weekends while my kid took a bath or while I supervised him on the loo! It all got so much for me doing it while I tried to do it alongside everything else in life, as I neared the end my mum came and chipped in to help by putting up the wallpaper (thanks mum).
