As she reminds us, we are the ones who must always remember to be relentless in our convictions. We must be grounded in our principles - to be in solidarity with our communities. We must remember that the goal is not only to access the status quo or to diversify it on its own. Instead, the aim is to be unapologetic and unafraid in the commitments towards freedom and liberation. After all, we are fighting for our lives. We must remember that in the fight, we have always known how to best take care of each other. And we will continue Janice’s legacy together: to collectively work together to dismantle systems of violence that have enacted and created conditions of harm and simultaneously criminalized and abandoned so many. Following her legacy, I embrace us creating an entirely different world - where we are absolutely unafraid.
