Hi my bariatric fam! I finally found my progress picture shorts so here is a long overdue progress pic! I am officially 2 years post-op from VSG & the common discussion between people who had surgery around the same time as me is that they are experiencing some slight regain. I had a great discussion with Dr. Russo @weightloss_oc this week & he explained that most bariatric patients don’t understand the trajectory of bariatric weight loss. While most of the weight comes off during the first year, a 10% regain of excess weight is to be expected 1-2 years out. This isn’t the case for everyone but this is what recently happened to me. Due to PCOS, going off birth control, unforeseen stress and other comorbidities, 10 pounds crept up on your girl over a 3-month period this summer. I wanted to create a super transparent progress pic to show you how I went from my heaviest to my lowest and now 10 pounds away from my lowest. It’s easy to get discouraged especially when watching the scale became a thrilling hobby for many of us, but it’s important to remember that a 10% regain of weight loss is to be expected. I’m accepting where I’m at and appreciating the progress I’ve made to this point. My journey isn’t over, I’m just getting started and I’m not clocking how long it’s going to take to lose the rest of the weight that I wanted to lose. I still feel great and as I always say, I’d do it again! I hope this helps any one experiencing something similar, you’re not alone & we got this! #pcos #vsg #wls #vsgjourney #vsgbeforeandafter #weightloss #weightlosstransformation #regain #wlscommunity #vsgtransformation #motivationmonday
