Check out the Salish Heron 🤩 #DYK: The beautiful, vibrant artwork that adorns the hull of the ship was created by Coast Salish artist Maynard Johnny Jr. from Chemainus, BC. 🙌 @maynard_johnny_jr_artist drew inspiration from the herons that reside throughout the west coast and have traditionally been guides to where fish were abundant. He used his signature style of traditional Salish design with contemporary colours to create art that would honour that Coast Salish living relationship with the Salish Sea. The Salish Heron is the fourth Salish Class vessel to join the #BCFerries fleet. Each Salish Class ferry is built to be clean, quiet and efficient to support #BCFerries goal to be efficient and environmentally responsible. The ferries run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and can transport 138 vehicles and up to 600 passengers and crew members. The Salish Heron currently services the Tsawwassen – Southern Gulf Island route.
