this time of the year can be a lot... 😳
the majority of us are carrying around extra stress without even knowing it. signs are a tight jaw, clenched teeth, neck + shoulder pain. taking a couple moments to decrease stress can have a profound effect on your mood + ability to think clearly and regulate your emotions.
here's a breathing technique that can be done literally anywhere to help you instantly relax.
4-6-8 breathing:
breathe in deeply + through the nose, counting 1-2-3-4.
hold your breath in while counting 1-2-3-4-5-6.
breathe out through your mouth while counting 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8.
give it a try right now (it's way better for you than scrolling), and notice how you feel.
breathing like this oxygenates your brain, relaxes your body, slows your nervous system, and decreases stress hormones. your blood pressure and heart rate drops, muscles relax, and your head clears.
try using it over the holidays - the grocery checkout line, the traffic light, when you park to go to the holiday party, after someone in your family has a meltdown 🥴, and to unwind at night.
