There are still a few more weeks left to see Mayme Kratz’s exhibition, “Long After Forever!” A resident of Phoenix, Arizona, Kratz is particularly drawn to the harsh conditions of the desert and the American southwest. She sets out on hiking and camping trips to explore the texture and soul of the landscape, frequently foraging for plant life, insect exoskeletons, snake vertebra, and shells, among other organic matter. She then encases these in layers of resin that are sanded down to a smooth, matte finish. The natural materials are not only memorialized but also transformed, reanimated and given new meaning and life 🌾🐍 “Long After Forever” is on view through July 2.
