GREG LAUREN FW22 NEW FORMAL The Fisherman Stitchwork GL1 This is one of the pieces which really speaks to our creative process and spirit throughout our studio. We had started experimenting with naturally dyeing pieces in our studio, to learn more about the process and allow for more creative experimenting...how to achieve certain shades of colors, dipping for different lengths of time to produce various tones and vibrancy....I found myself staring at a bin of dip dye tests- small random shaped scraps of organic cotton fisherman knit, in different colors, no two the same. They could easily have been thrown away, and yet I thought it was one of the most beautiful things I'd seen. The mix of various shades indigos, and seemingly random colors thrown together; walnut, pomegranate, madder root (tans, burgundy, red, pink)... I could see our GL1 immediately, more of a long cardigan, and the team of makers at our studio figured out how we could bring that to life, and how we could make multiples, each the same style but unique.
