'The former residence of one of Britain’s greatest architects (Soane designed the Bank of England and the Dulwich Picture Gallery) still houses his vast collection of art and antiquities, arranged just as he left it – right down to the ancient sarcophagus in the basement. The tiny Picture Room is a marvel, full of hidden masterpieces such as Hogarth’s The Rake’s Progress, revealed at set intervals throughout the day from behind movable walls. There’s a truly dizzying number of artefacts on display but if you find yourself wanting more, head to Pitzhanger Manor in Acton, Soane’s country pile, which is now a contemporary gallery.' Gallery: Sir John Soane's Museum @soanemuseum Image: Gareth Gardner @gardnergareth As featured in 'An Opinionated Guide to Art London' by Christina Brown @christinarosebrown available to pre-order now.
