My Curly Hair Journey -How it started vs how it’s going- 5 things I wish knew at the start of my journey 1- patience and consistency is the key . It’s going to take some time to begin to see results and the only way you are going to see results is if you are consistent . Don’t give up , don’t give in. 2- Your journey will not look like anyone else’s so focus on you . It’s ok to be inspired, infact it’s important but don’t compare your day 1 to someone else’s year 2 . 3. Experiment a lot , whether it be with products or techniques. It’s important to find what works for you ! And you can only do that by experimenting. 4- . No 2 washes are going to be the same . Your curls will show up in beautifully different ways and it’s ok . Embrace them for what they are . Because they are beautiful in every state . 5. Frizz is not your enemy !!!! It’s part of life . It’s part of the journey , we all Experience it , it’s going to happen . There are techniques and products that can be used to minimize it but ultimately it is frizz . Embracing it can bring you voluminous curls , embracing frizz allows us to really accept and love your true natural curls It’s taken me 6 years to get to where I am now on my natural hair journey . I had very heat damaged and chemically straightened curls and it took me a while to set down my straightener and truly begin It’s taken 6 years of self love , of honouring every step of this journey . Of understanding what it meant for me to embrace my naturally curly hair and what that meant for how I show up in the world . 6 years of committing every day to loving my natural self , And seeing the beauty of my curly and coily hair . And knowing that it is enough!!!! I’m so glad I did . I’m so glad I did the work . And I’m so proud of how far I’ve come and how many beautiful curls I’ve been lucky to inspire on the way 🤍 I hope this inspires you to start on your own journey if you were think about it or to continue on your journey if you were feeling despondent .
