Keyboard exhibit #4, the mighty Hammond B-3 organ! This is a beat-up road dog from 1971, really aggressive, punchy and bright. I cloned its tone with my digital Hammond XK5 for the Disciples of Soul world tours, because it was perfect for cutting through onstage with a dense 15-piece band with 5 horns and 3 backing vocalists. Today I used it on a transcontinental session out of my studio, Tannery Row Recording, with my buddy Peter McConnell for a video game soundtrack. This time it got to soar over a real full orchestra! Some of the musicians were out of Melbourne Australia - truly a global effort!
