“QADIR” is out now! I remember the beginnings of this song starting with Nick, Vishal, Kyle and I going up to Outlier Inn for 2 days during May 2018. Nick mentioned he really wanted to record his song “QADIR” and when the band started playing it, they didn’t stop. I quickly hit record and it became a full 11min+ meditation. Nick was buzzing and spazzing after we got basics and immediately said he’s got this conga idea. Vishal took it like a champ, and played the whole loop for the 11.5 mins. He paused halfway thru but then quickly returned. You can hear Nick spazzing around the mics if you listen closely... Then we muttered the idea of using as many bell sounds as possible and zero guitars so Nick quickly hopped on the studio’s vibraphone. The vibe had started and that was the last I had heard that song for a whole year. When Nick later showed me where QADIR was at, it blew me away. People need to understand that Nick creates 70-80% of the production for his songs ON HIS OWN. It’s his brainchild. It was his beautiful idea to bring together so many friends and peers in the community to lend their voices. It’s a beautiful thing. We then added more weird stuff like funny takes of glockenspiel, megaphone sirens, etc. Jesse came by and added an unbelievable flute take as well (I didn’t even know that dude played flute wtf). Once the song was stuffed, we started mixing which took, naturally, forever. I still have insecurities about it but life goes on! I hope you guys enjoy this one. Nick pours his soul into his songs and as his comrade, I do too. I love nick and it’s the coolest thing ever watching his music start from nothing and become something.
