Spent yesterday in DC speaking with @senbobcasey @secondgentleman @senschumer and @kirstengillibrand about the importance of supporting caregivers and families impacted by Alzheimer’s and related dementias. The load that these heroes carry is so physically, emotionally, and financially heavy and it’s imperative that our country invests in supporting them. @Sethrogen, @iamsaragrafferty, @dmille2306, @aijenp (president of @domesticworkers /the coolest) and I shared the stories we’ve learned both personally as caregivers, as well as from the thousands of people we’ve met through @wearehfc’s care grant program. Finances shouldn’t limit how we take care of our loved ones, but unfortunately that’s a reality that too many Americans face. Frustratingly, it seems partisan politics is the current roadblock to giving Americans the care and support they need. I am sad that care has become a partisan issue, but I also feel more motivated than ever to do whatever I can to find a solution. And until then, @wearehfc will be there to care for caregivers.
