On this day, 20th December 1922, Irishwomen Aleen Cust was registered as the first female vet with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
To mark this important Centenary, Mná100 is delighted to highlight the work of the Aleen Cust Memorial Society members, Donal Connolly, Brendan Gardiner and Ascinta Kilroy, along with Galway, Roscommon and Tipperary County Councils who have produced a short film and a seven-episode podcast on this pioneering woman.
You can view the film on YouTube at https://bit.ly/Custvet and listen wherever you get your podcasts.
This is supported under Decade of Centenaries Programme 2012-2023 funding.
