Happy Spooktember everyone! Today was monumental for me. I woke up and had the desire to create. While I have created several images it’s been just about a year since I felt that tug from within my soul to make something. It’s hard to explain unless you’ve felt it yourself. There’s creating, putting in the work and making something but there isn’t always the feeling behind it. That feeling that comes from an unknown place, the one that guides me to choose a character, make crazy colors and truly fall in love with the act of being. Today I felt it and followed the feeling all the way through. I wanted to pair beauty with oddities and move people to a confused sense of themselves. This image is full meaning from the spikes on my arms and hands to the soft feathers adorning my neck. The plucking of ones eyes, softness of my skin and texture filling my scene. It’s harsh yet lovely and speaks volumes to who I am. I no longer strive for perfection as an artist but today I am proud.
