Bishop’s Lodge Santa Fe & FarahNHeight Fine Art are collaborating to create “Whiteshell Waterplace” a museum-like, curated exhibition featuring artist David Naranjo & family at the Horseshoe Gallery at Bishop’s Lodge. Reflecting the multi-generational nature of the exhibit, traditional pottery & indigenous work will be incorporated into the show. Reception guests can talk to David Naranjo about his work & see the artist creating. Naranjo is from the Pueblos of Santa Clara, San Juan, Cochiti. Naranjo is working in multiple mediums to depict cultural symbolism through stylized Puebloan pottery designs & fine geometrical linear work. Our symbols and iconography are not only for ornate and decorative purposes but are visual representations the natural world, landscape & if used properly, for prayer. My inspiration comes from the beauty I experience within my community of Kha’Po Ohwingeh. My work integrates modern art forms and concepts paired with traditional Puebloan aesthetics to create contemporary Puebloan art. Puebloan Pottery designs & geometrical linear work serve a specific purpose & retain meaning within a cultural context inclusive of the natural world, water/precipitation, & our emotional experiences.
