(Here, the whole congregation gives a blessing to Rick and Kaye) Rick Warren steps down as head of Saddleback church after 4 decades. Imagine that! I wish all succession efforts were like this. “No success without succession.” Who hasn’t been impacted by him, and his best selling book, The Purpose driven Life? I was certainly challenged by it, and it moved me to make it available to more people by designing “The Purpose Driven life for Professionals,” combining Rick’s biblical and spiritual foundations with time tested management approaches and latest leadership studies. It is a workshop I ran first for Purpose Driven Ministries Ph and then for hundreds of professionals through the years. When Rick visited Manila the first almost 20 years ago, I had the privilege of accompanying and assisting him to his talks, hosting his events and even orgzanizing a night with influencers who could re-echo want they learned from him. One of the greatest speaker assisting experiences of my life! He visited again before the pandemic and Maricel and I (with some of our kids ) were blessed not only with his messages, but his hugs! @mommymaricel were constantly in tears as we watched this stepping down church event. But while we were sad, we were also inspired not only to end our lives “strong,” but to end it well! “He accomplished God’s purpose in his generation.” - Acts 13: 36 That’s Rick’s favorite verse. Should be ours, too?
