You can't buy happiness, but you can buy plants, and that's pretty much the same thing! 🌱 "My houseplant journey started when my husband and I moved into our first home 4 years ago! We started from scratch and bought furniture, decor, etc, and a few houseplants. A lot of those plants died, except for one calathea that somehow thrived and survived a whole 2 years before I realized, "hey, I'm on to something here!" Then the pandemic happened and because I work in healthcare, I was getting increasingly stressed out and ended up turning to plants to give me some relief from the real world. I have a love for researching articles and plant forums to get a better understanding of my plants, which I think is partially due to my healthcare background. Seeing the plants thrive because of something I learned and applied brings me so much joy! But I also really appreciate the aesthetic value plants bring into my home, so now I love styling them as well. In the end, what I love the most is how plants combine my love of art and science, and how the hobby can be so rewarding and yet so humbling at the same time. It forces me to accept that nature will just do its thing, and it's also made me realize that the more I learn, the more I realize there's still so much I don't know, and that's what life is about! Plants taught me about life and helped me make a lot of new friends along the way too. 😊" -Bekka @herplantstories Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
