“For all who’ve been watching from the very beginning, my vision is clear and we always stay winning.” JC🦅 I grew up in a poor family as one of the only black families in a small city on the east coast. My family learned, early, the values of sticking together and supporting one another. 🏠 One of my favourite memories was watching movies together as a family. We didn’t even have cable tv but all 6 kids plus my parents would get together and watch the Disney movie of the week. My favourite movie, for some reason, happened to be The Isaiah Thomas Story. Probably because it featured a poor family that stuck together to overcome difficult odds while Isaiah tried to make it as a PRO athlete. ⛹🏽 I found myself relating to this family in so many ways and the lessons were impactful. I still remember his mother passionately showing them how one matchstick could easily be broken but a few of them held together carry remarkable strength. That is the strength of every FAMILY! 💯 Throughout my life, I’ve provided strength and safety to many families as a therapist, foster parent, respite worker, youth mentor and psychologist. Now that I’m blessed with my own family, I feel grateful for the all the strength I earned by overcoming difficult obstacles so I could learn important lessons to pass on to my tribe. 🙏🏽 Be aware of whatever lessons your life and history has taught you and always remember how much strength you’ve earned along your way.
