What a special time of year here in @destinationperth 🌼 It’s the Noongar season Djilba, a season of transition and conception. Newborn animals are emerging and wildflowers are colouring the land in carpets of vibrant beauty. WA is a wildflower biodiversity hotspot, home to one of the largest collections anywhere in the world with over 12,000 species of flowers, with half found only here in @westernaustralia 🌼 In the beautiful Avon valley region, in under 2 hours from Perth, you’ll find some wildflower hotspots and the charming, historical towns @visittoodyay @visitnortham and @experienceyork ✨ In Toodyay be sure to enjoy lunch at the famous bakery (best vegan pie of my life!) and visit the coolest Christmas shop you’ll ever see. Stay at @victoriahoteltoodyay where you’ll wake up to serene river views and sounds. Take a wildflower walk at Wongamine reserve and for local wine tasting head to @coorinja_winery 🍷 It was established in the 1870’s and is one of the oldest wineries in the state. ✨ In Northam visit @bilyakoortboodja which translates to ‘River Heart Land’ 💛 It’s a Noongar cultural and environmental knowledge centre and an important part of learning and understanding the history of this region. You can also take a hot air balloon ride in Northam with views overlooking the vibrant yellow canola fields 🌼 ✨ In York visit @petteetpark for some canola fields photos like these ones. Stay at @laurelville_manor and visit the towns community gardens for a peaceful and beautiful space created for wildflowers, nature, people and the animals. As always please note it is illegal to stop and take photos along roadside canola fields. It can contaminate the farmers crop, costing them thousands of $$ and impact their livelihood for years to come.
