I was privileged to work and live with the amazing humans of @fairycreekblockade on the unceded lands of the Pacheedaht and Ditidaht peoples. Their strength & commitment is contagious! These Land Defenders have paused their lives and sacrificed everything to take a Stand for the last remaining 2.7% of productive Old Growth rainforests in BC. Seeing it in person still makes it impossible to believe, that in 2021 we are still cutting down 2000 year old trees. These magnificent giants deserve to stand. Period. Cutting them down for short term profit is beyond an unintelligent decision, it’s senseless, disgusting and criminal. The @bcndp government and @johnhorgan4bc are spending millions of dollars in @bcrcmp enforcement, risking the lives of peaceful protesters. @johnhorgan4bc’s campaign promise last year was to protect old growth, he Lied to us. The deferral he announced was a media grab and has little impact on what’s actually happening in the Fairy Creek watershed & surrounding areas. I was fortunate to sit and listen to Elder Bill Jones tell stories of his people over thousands of years stewarding the land and spiritually connecting with these trees. It was beautiful and inspiring. We need to listen to their wishes, wisdom & guidance in our path to reconciliation. Elder Bill Jones supports the Land Defenders. Cutting old growth needs to STOP today. Not tomorrow. Today! Science and experts agree, along with over 85% of BC residents. A proper forest management system can be designed to benefit everyone, not just bias government and greedy industry. There is a bigger picture here and narrow minded government refuses to open their eyes. I’m frustrated and embarrassed to watch it. I encourage everyone, go to @fairycreekblockade and support.
