This is a MUST READ and WATCH post from @caitie.colors “I’ve been hearing it from clients every where: “Why is color so expensive?!” “I won’t pay more than 150 dollars!” “I don’t understand why prices keep going up!” The truth is- it’s a multi faceted issue. - prices on product and supplies are truly exploding. Sometimes increasing once a QUARTER for certain brands or items. Foils pre pandemic? 5 bucks. Post pandemic? 20. Color prices? SKY! HIGH! We can’t expect stylists to shoulder that entire expense across the board. It’s not personal. We have a business to run. - Hair techniques have CHANGED. Your Pinterest inspo picture probably requires a LOT MORE than you think it does. It’s not just a full foil for 115$ any more. It’s a combination of balayage, foilayage, root smudges, and glossing to get these advanced techniques. OKAY if techniques changed a decade ago why am I now feeling it in my wallet? Honestly, so many stylists and salons didn’t price themselves accurately. They were still giving you the full foil price instead of a customized color price because they didn’t want to lose you. They didn’t want to upset you with a price increase. Sure salons may have upped their prices a few dollars a year here and there but it has not been enough to compensate for the service itself and NOW the explosion in prices for supplies. Long standing stylists have been forced to come to a reckoning and younger stylists see this industry for what it is- a BUSINESS. Most stylists are empathetic people- but this is a CAREER. Not a “job” like most people see it. Stylists that work hard and value their quality of work deserve financial security. WHEW that was a whollleeeeee word. 😭💖” Share this with ALL your stylist friends. #hairhelp #haireels #haireducation #haircost #hairstylistreels #hairhumor #hairdrama #salonproblems #redken
