Good wildlife news! A recent survey shows that snow leopard populations in the Himalayas are holding strong. Nepal’s first comprehensive national assessment estimates 397 individuals, confirming a stable population. Additionally, a study contributed by @world_wildlife found that these elusive cats roam farther than previously thought, including the world’s highest recorded elevation for a snow leopard at over 19,000 feet.
These playful, mysterious cats are more than a wonder to watch. Their presence is a hopeful sign for the species and the fragile mountain ecosystems they call home, which support unique biodiversity and essential resources for over a billion people. Protecting these landscapes means protecting snow leopards for generations to come.
