Here we have the solo section of “El Dorado”. This song is one of the toughest songs in the set to execute. The parts are simple but keeping this chugging going on the left hand for the entire song and nailing that kick drum down at the right time is no walk in the park. The goal here is driving without pushing; a brisk cruise. I typically play through this section five or six times throughout my warm up each night just to get that tempo under my hands and feet. I didn’t really intend to at the time, but when I came up with this part in studio back in 2017, I managed to create a part that would still be a challenge and opportunity to improve each night for years to come.
