SAVE FOR EASY PEASY SHELF STYLING TIPS we don’t live in this sunny apartment anymore, but I’m resharing this Reel because I’M still learning how to style shelves, and I know it can be an obstacle for a lot of others too who are just starting to decorate. (p.s. I wrote an ENTIRE detailed blog post on my blog at rachlvalente.com if you want to read more there, too!) ⌓ style asymmetrically there’s definitely a place for very orderly, symmetrical styling, but to get that organic, carefree feel, you’ll want to stagger and create little spatial differences between your items. I like to imagine there are lines going down the ends and middle of the shelves, using that as a guide to make sure items don’t line up right on top or below each other on each shelf. ⌓ use shapes + height for interest adding in other shapes like circles or items with softer edges can really bring a more natural, balanced look. stack a couple books and add in some taller items as well for some height. ⌓ fill in gaps with texture texture texture! this should come as no surprise :) this is where it gets fun and you can add in your favorite thrifted items, knick knacks, etc. I love keeping some of my favorite ceramics here and other small items to add textural interest while not being overwhelming. ⌓ avoid placing similar textures/tones by each other diversify where you space things out so that each texture and tone has its own place to shine! for example, I kept this rattan jug on a separate end from the woven baskets. ⌓ adjust step back and take it in!
