“hYPERFIXATION”, my 2024 Undergraduate Research Creative Activity Award has finally come to a close this weekend. I remember conceptualizing this piece in the car, driving around aimlessly at a ridiculously late time. “hYPERFIXATION” followed the process of developing, enveloping, and grieving the loss of a hyperfixation through the eyes of someone with ADHD. From its invigorating start, to its bitter-sweet closure. I’m all too familiar with its story, so being able to fully encompass this concept into a form that allowed people to entirely understand was a surreal, profound experience. I cannot understate how much this experience meant to me. The late nights plotting, researching and struggling to make this happen has finally all been worth it. To my cast, thank you. Thank you beyond words. I couldn’t imagine this process without a single one of you in it. You were extraordinary.
