As this day comes to a close I am sending all my love to our communities across Turtle Island and around the globe. We are beautiful and we are so powerful. After everything. Every assault and indignity. Every trauma and abuse. After the murders and the rapes and the torture, the disease. The destruction of our families. After stealing our children and our land. We continue to love. We continue to dance. We continue to resist. WE ARE STILL HERE. I am forever humbled and inspired by the strength and brilliance of my people. I send love and honour to those who have passed and all of those taken from us too soon. Those who could not complete their work here. I know that you have found your place in the spirit realm with the ancestors. I send love to those who were taken, who had their teachings and their birth rights stolen. Those who are searching for their way home. Chi miigwetch to the grandmothers and grandfathers and grandparents, the aunties and uncles and cousins. Chi miigwetch to the mothers and fathers and parents. Chi miigwetch for the children. The future. I send respect to our warriors, our Ogichidaa and to the knowledge keepers. Love to the land defenders and medicine people. Chi miigwetch for your healing and protection. Love to our storytellers and artists. Chi miigwetch for lifting our spirits and lighting us up with truth and hope. Chi miigwetch to the allies, accomplices and co-conspirators... where ever you are on that path. I am sending love to creation. What a beautiful gift to be alive. Thanksgiving to the visionaries. May we all benefit from your sight, that we may see through this struggle and pain and find our courage to continue to stand for justice. Stand for truth. Stand for bimaadzawiin... that good life that creator intended for us. Tonight my beautiful niece is labouring to bring new life into this world. A beautiful Black Anishinaabe ogichidaakwe is coming to join us on this journey. I know that she deserves everything. These are our moments. What will we do to clear a path for those yet to come?? What will we do with our life spark in the universe?? We are here for a reason. We are the ones creation needs.
