Oversized pearls and bows galore! This was a well chosen theme as they are such timeless pieces in Chanel’s history. As this collection was done by the Chanel studio team, it was a great way to feel like Chanel during this phase of being in between creative directors. The show started out with traditional Chanel tweed looks draped in sheer layers in light pink, white and black. The second half was a little edgier, incorporated a lot more black, amazing coats and some very fresh denim on denim looks. We saw some chunky knits in between and a few sweater dresses (in a mint green which we’ve seen a few times this season). While I’m certainly excited for Matthieu Blazy collection next season I do think the Chanel studios team is doing a wonderful job during this period. I always enjoy the handbags and this collection had a lot to unpack. Somehow the mini bags got even smaller and the shoulder bags got more oversized.
