If Reels wants to be TikTok so badly they should let me upload the full video 🙄 because here’s what I want to say: A few things to remember about MSG: 1. Your body can’t tell the difference between molecularly identical forms. Monosodium glutamate is monosodium glutamate regardless of the source 2. There are no clinical trials, reviews, or other publications that have proven claims like these. The methodology of most animal & in vitro studies is 🗑 3. No disease state is caused by an isolated factor, you don’t need to be afraid of your food And as for the fearmongering posts from people committed to spreading disinformation about health & nutrition: 1. It’s probably not the MSG. But it’s an easy scapegoat and makes them sound more like an expert than they are. This is predatory, especially for people who aren’t getting the kind of support that might help them identify legitimate triggers or manage a diagnosis with something that actually works 2. Stay skeptical - if you aren’t seeing credentials and sources, it’s not automatically wrong but it’s worth looking into. Anyone can portray themselves as an expert 3. Don’t waste money on supplements you don’t need. I’m not against supplements so don’t get it twisted, but look for third party tested and verified products that are safe, effective, and helpful. Not just something the Medical Medium devotee slapped on a social media graphic Finally, stop engaging with posts like these. Block, report, unfollow. The internet is designed to make disinformation spread faster than facts. Social media is full of people who want to scare you into believing food is inherently dangerous. And when it comes to MSG, we know that isn’t true. We’ve known it for decades, so eat it or don’t but it’s time for the claims targeting Asian food to stop #streetsmartnutrition #fearlessnourished #rdchat #rd2be #umami #factsvsfear #mythbusting #gentlenutrition #stopasianhate
