'Simon Roberts’ photos are usually shot from slightly above. Only slightly. There are no cranes or drones here. Instead, the photographer will often stand on the top of the camper van that he drives around the country, documenting British public life. The effect is subtle, but almost omniscient. It gives Roberts greater control as narrator of the scene – that slight elevation shifting the⁠ viewer’s perspective.
