Happy Saturday!! For those that might be new to this page/project, The Free Black Womenโs Library has existed since 2015.
I started it with a collection of 100 books on a Bedstuy brownstone stoop and as it grew I would take the collection of books to different locations every month.
I would set up the books by genre and author in any place that would have me!! By 2017 I had almost three thousand books. ๐ฎ๐
I would trade books with people all day long and also lead free literary workshops and discussions inspired by the work of the writers in the collection.
As a nerdy book loving introvert it was both challenging and fun. It still is!!
Now we have our own shop to gather in not just monthly but every weekend!!
Location: 226 Marcus Garvey Blvd, Brooklyn
Come through!!
Iโm still interested in the mobile aspect of this project as I feel that is also part of its charm, taking the books to the people!!
I hope to acquire a van or bus in 2023 so the monthly pop ups can still go on, the main collection would stay at the Reading Room with a smaller collection going all over the city and beyond.
If anyone wants to donate or buy a van or small bus for us please feel free to do so!!

This is a grassroots community funded project!! Thank you so much to my Patreon patrons their funding is what supports the growth and sustainability of this work!! ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ
