I reported this feature about Puerto Rico in December, at a time when I was feeling particularly sad. I wept often, almost in sync with the tropical rain showers that descended every afternoon . But I was also able to rejoice, seeing the life-affirming grace and grit of all the small farmers I talked to across the island, and whose fruits were so hard-won and delicious.
