Today marks 10 years since journalists Marie Colvin and Rémi Ochlik were killed by the Assad regime while covering the siege in Homs, Syria. I’m incredibly honored I was able to document Marie’s story in A PRIVATE WAR. Thinking about her today. One of my favorite Marie quotes: “Covering a war means going into places torn by chaos, destruction, death and pain, and trying to bear witness to that...The real difficulty is having enough faith in humanity to believe that someone will care.” According to the latest @committeetoprotectjournalists report, 27 journalists were killed across the globe in 2021. 21 of those journalists were murdered, and so far three journalists have been murdered in 2022.
