Now in the sabukaru Online Shop: Johnny Terror’s “Tokyo Sky” & “Reality”
Johnny Terror [@johnnyterror] is a Tokyo-based artist and creator. But what’s most important is that he is a long-time collaborator and dear friend of sabukaru. Thus, we’re happy to introduce our network to his two latest projects, “I Hope This Isn’t Reality” and “Tokyo Sky.”
Having mastered a visual language, sincerely influenced by techno-culture and science fiction dystopias, Johnny Terror has built a world in which these two terms feel palpable, authentic, and powerfully personal. The term “GENKI” acts as the artist’s iconic branding. A word derived from the Japanese (元気), translating to “having energy.”
The first of his two latest artworks, “I Hope This Isn’t Reality,” presents a design reminiscent of political campaign merchandise. While the poster print is available in our shop under the section “Prints,” you can also buy the T-shirt worn by the character in the image. Limited to 50 pieces, the striking artwork is screen-printed on a black cut & sew heavy cotton longsleeve.
The latter, titled “Tokyo Sky,” evokes the idea of a dystopian future that is cheerless yet hopeful. Here, Terror invites the beholder to the conceptual reality he envisions. Just like the former project, “Tokyo Sky” is available as a large-scale print poster and as a thick print on a black cut & sew heavy cotton longsleeve, limited to 50 pieces.
Hit the link in our bio and find his work under “Prints” & “sabukaru Clothing”.
