The No One’s Looking music video is out now! (Swipe for preview) I’ve been wanting to make a full video with @lukervv for a while now, glad we made it happen. We shot this across couple days in summer, DIY style collecting people as we went. When he first played me the song Luke shared how he made Cardiff his home. Mentioning how he’d drive up from Neath weekly, meeting people, becoming a part of the scene and occasionally living out of his car, which is where the concept came from. We wanted to do something different to Luke’s other music videos and anything I’ve made before. I wanted it to feel like an extension of his music, a dive into his everyday life and the intimate moments shared in a space like this. Beyond that I was thinking about the people that come in and out of our lives, the moments and connections shared with those closest to us, and times of solitude in-between. The song felt like a perfect balance of nostalgia and reflection on the present, painting a vivid picture of dark wet Welsh nights n childhood memories, mixed with self aware and existential commentary. No One’s Looking isn’t a natural single, it’s definitely more of an album cut but it takes you on a journey emotionally, we wanted the video to reflect this. Flowing from day to night, bouncing from cheerful to sombre but yet no dramatic ending. Just life continuing, experiencing the full range of emotional highs n lows along the way. The narrative isn’t chronological or linear, so for the first time I’ve left a project completely open to the viewers interpretation rather than pinning an exact narrative to it. It’s added a whole new dimension to the creative process. I’ve loved hearing other peoples takes and pointing out meanings I’d felt internally but struggled to articulate. Thanks to everyone for being apart of the video. The fact that each person featured is an artist from the Cardiff scene completed it for me. Shout out to Diff legends @itslocs and @starvzoffical89 on the cameos. Extra praise to @ellicedabeast , @smxk3__ and @gabinkongolo for the show stopping performances, and Luke too for putting up with me shouting through a window all week. Who knew he could act.
