This is @vivaconagua_ug This is @papashotit one of the founders of Viva con Agua in Uganda and one of the reasons why I don’t have to travel to Uganda no more cause we have build up local structures that run the #NGO organize our own arts & music festival that take care of our water projects. I am not needed no more (if I ever have been). When we started @vivaconagua 1.200.000.000 got no access to the basic need of water nowadays 560.000.000 people got no access. Still way to many but also at least going the right direction When we started @vivaconagua we had no idea about #whitesaviorism destructive narratives of the African or Asian continent but now we have a glimpse of it at least. So it’s also going the right direction. Very slowly but cultural transformation takes time which we have; others not When we started @vivaconagua we had no idea about charity and social business was not yet existing in our mindset and not in Germany in general. I’m the last 17 years we roughly supported 3.600.000 people with clean drinking water we activated thousands of people to take action to show solidarity to collect cups to hold the #waterisahumanright sign to write music to paint to spray to dance to play for other people who are not having the access we never had to worry about. And we have been part of mindset shift that it doesn’t make sense to start a business in the 21st century that doesn’t give back to the community #purposeeconomy This only was possible cause of each and every drop. @papashotit is just like me someone who gets the credits or stages but there are so many that supported us from the beginning yesterday or whenever and I just wanna say: Thank you for being part of the journey Still a long way to go.
