Climate activist @sophiakianni (Sophia Kianni) believes that COP27, the annual @unclimatechange Conference, is the most important climate moment of the year. “It’s the only time that all the global leaders come together to take action towards achieving the world’s collective climate goals, as agreed under the Paris Agreement.” This year, COP is being held in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt. “As an Iranian-American climate activist, I hope to highlight the importance of COP27 being held in the Middle East as temperatures continue to rise in the region and stress that climate justice is a human rights and health issue.” Sophia is founder and executive director of @climatecardinals, a youth-led nonprofit working to make the climate movement more accessible to those who don’t speak English. She’s also part of the @unitednations Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change: a group of seven young people from around the world, appointed to provide diverse youth perspectives and concrete recommendations to help accelerate global climate action.
