a little toddler reality for you all below👇🏼(please share this with other toddler parents you know) Last night, we wanted to go for an early dinner and ice cream at a local spot. On the way there, Mila asked if we were going to breakfast and I said no, we’re going to dinner. ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. she was screaming and crying that she wanted breakfast - NOT dinner. So then I said ok ya we’re going to breakfast and she calmed down temporarily. We arrived and while in our car still, my husband and I were looking at the menu and deciding what to order. Mila was saying she wanted pancakes and berries. I told her they don’t have those things here and another MELTDOWN ensued. It was pretty bad and she wasn’t calming down. At this point we decided it just wasn’t worth it and made the decision to just go home instead. She proceeded to scream and cry and then 10 min into the drive, she started in that she wanted ice cream. Sharing this because it can be easy to forget this, but social media is a highlight reel. The fun & best moments, perfectly curated with the prettiest filters. The unfiltered reality is that toddlers scream and cry. Some days they tantrum and have meltdowns over anything and everything. If you are feeling like you are failing because your child “acts up” just know that you are not alone and you are not failing. Parenthood is hard, and we are all just doing the best we can. Like everything else, this is just a phase, and this too shall pass.
