Prevention beats cure. This Cancer Prevention Action Week, I want to share some facts about skin cancer. I got the disease at 26 and have been campaigning to help others to prevent it. The easiest way to do that is by wearing sunscreen regularly. But the UK government taxes sunscreen as a ‘luxury or cosmetic’, and slaps a 20% VAT on every bottle sold. This not only hits our poorest hardest; it sends a damaging message about the importance of sun safety to our public health.
