Please join us Friday, July 29th under the Big Top at the Augusta Auctions Studio for an informal, outdoor Northeast Regional meetup! Current, past and prospective Northeast Regional Costume Society members are welcome as we come together to hear Edward Maeder explore the rapidly changing silhouette of the period from 1840-1900. This fun and informal talk entitled “TIED TO BE FIT: The Victorian Obsession With Fashion Perfection” examines the use of foundational garments in the Victorian Era including corsets, crinolines, cages, sleeves and petticoats. Edward has held curatorial posts at the Fashion Institute of Technology, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Bata Shoe Museum and Historic Deerfield.
