A couple of book projects from this year! (Currently have something else I’ve been chipping away at in the works too...) 1) Street Style: Dr. Martens published by @studiobooks and edited by @frankiejonesbooks. A fun pocket-sized compendium on all things DMs, thanks to @d_dot_mckoy and @naughtykarate for all the help. Dropped at the same time as a Nike book by @imgerald. 2) Giant Robot: 30 Years of Asian American Pop Culture published by @drawnandquarterly. Immensely honored to have been asked to write the intro for the fashion section of this book, which contains the legendary interview with @jennyshimizu! @giantrobot is up there with @massappeal and @thefader as the Gen-X born magazines that got me interested in subcultural journalism, and having a byline in that hall of fame is incredibly edifying. 3) Stone Island: Storia (Revised & Updated) published by @rizzolibooks and edited by @eugenerabkin. A truly comprehensive tome about one of the world’s best brands, featuring an essay I wrote about how Stoney incepted its way into American street fashion via British style arbitrage—not every day you get to mention Liam Gallagher and Lethal Bizzle on the same page.
