Here are a few of the photos from my first-ever roll of film. Being armed with zero practical experience with the process or the camera (Mamiya RB67) and only hours upon hours of intensive YouTube studying, I knew I would likely create some of the greatest photos of all time and be immediately thrust into the spotlight as a living legend of photography. My rational brain, frantically pumping the breaks on my ego, told me I should start shooting as soon and as much as possible in order to get the inevitable learning process started. These were all shot last Sunday, the first day I had the camera. The film is Kodak Portra 400 that I bought from Third Man Records because they sell film and they are open on Sundays. Though we are clearly far from any even remarkable photography much less that of a world renowned miracle prodigy here, I was still quite happy to see any images at all. Not only did I managed to actually achieve discernible photographs with acceptable exposure and focus, but the camera appears to have no malfunctions nor light leaks. A camera made in the same decade as Jared Leto can be susceptible to a slew of issues. I had this roll developed and scanned at a lab, because I knew the world needed the life-changing stories these images tell as soon as possible in order to prepare my Nobel Prize ceremony. However, in light of the sobering reality of my average photography skills, the price of lab development and scanning, and my sheer curiosity and interest in the process, I will be developing and scanning almost everything from here on out myself. Stay tuned for video evidence of me bumbling through the chemistry experiment that is developing film.
Jared Leto is 50 years old.
