Quick tips for hiking to the Reykjadur Thermal River in Iceland 🇮🇸 1. Arrive early to secure a parking spot, the parking are is pretty small compared to the number of people who want to take a dip in the thermal river! 2. Be prepared for a decent uphill hike. This is a 3km, 45-60 minute hike all uphill with some quite gravelly areas. Wear your good hiking shoes and bring water. 3. Bring a towel and be prepared to bare you bum! There is not really a changing area (just a small areas to change behind) so you will have to do your best to quickly whip off your bottoms and get into your swimsuit. 4. Try different areas of the river as some spots the temperature is so hot it’s unbearable to sit in! But make sure to only go in in the designated areas. 5. Plan at least 3 hrs for the hike there and back and to give you plenty of time when you reach the river, you will want to relax when you get there. And maybe bring a beer or two to enjoy, but be sure to leave no trace! 6. If you forgot your beer, grab an Aperol Spritz when you head back down to your van or car. There is a small cafe / restaurant which has a DJ playing outside some days.
