Happy Heavenly Birthday, Mommy!!! This has been a hard one for me and it’s taken me ALL DAY to get to a place where I can even write something. You would think that it would be easy after 31 birthdays without you but...NOPE!! I miss EVERYTHING about you. The way you talked with your hands, how you had an answer and/or opinion for all things (even when you weren’t asked😒😄), your big bright beautiful smile, your self righteousness, sarcasm, chutzpah, that potty mouth, your intellect, your BLACKNESS ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾 etc. etc. etc. I could go on ad infinitum but ain’t nobody got time for that 🤷🏾‍♀️😂 I didn’t act like it but I heard and saw EVERYTHING you said and showed me. I saw how straightforward, honest, trustworthy, loyal and selfless you were which laid the foundation that I stand on as the woman I am today. You were other worldly! Drinking pure aloe juice, not eating meat and constantly screaming about the injustices we faced as a people in the 70’s in middle class Black America - had folk calling you crazy and radical but you didn’t care. Black Power was your first name and Holistic Healing your last. I say allllllll of that to say... I miss you soooooo much, Mommy!! I need you right now more than ever with what’s going on in AmeriKKKa. I know you’d be able to help me tolerate some of this nonsensical bullshit.
