Two words: impostor syndrome.
We’ve all felt it. I’ve definitely felt it. Sometimes I still do.
I don’t think there’s anyone in the world who hasn’t felt impostor syndrome. Because it doesn’t matter what you did before–every time you progress in your career, you’re doing something you haven’t before, something you might not have as much experience with. And that’s absolutely necessary in order to grow.
When it comes to impostor syndrome, the truth of the matter is that you just have to grin and bear it. You can’t wave a magic wand and make it go away. You can’t read a self-help book and wake up the next day 100% cured.
The only way out is through.
You don’t know what you don’t know. You just have to keep going, keep learning–until you do know. Until that impostor syndrome fades into the background, whether it goes away entirely or not.
Underneath it all, under that impostor syndrome, you KNOW that you belong where you are. You deserve to be doing what you’re doing. So flex your confidence muscle and remember that you’re stronger than impostor syndrome.
Don’t let it hold you back.
