On Saturday, September 17, Sky High Farm (@skyhighfarmhudsonvalley) and Judd Foundation (@juddfoundation) will host a symposium entitled Who is We? Where is There? What is It? at Judd’s SoHo Building in NYC. The day will consist of three distinct but interrelated moderated conversations that center themes relevant to both the work of the farm and the speakers invited to participate, all of whom are part of a diverse and extended network of collaborators. The symposium will ask: What happens if an artwork, a museum, a region, or a group of people are all considered homes, as opposed to places for transaction or extraction? Where do the differences between nation, neighborhood, and homeland really reside? How do we remain hopeful in the pursuit of the answers to these questions? Panelists and Moderators include: Deana Haggag (@dhaggag), Program Officer in Arts and Culture at @mellonfdn Dan Colen (@hellhillel), Artist and Founder of @skyhighfarmhudsonvalley Linda Goode Bryant (@lindagoodebryant), Artist and Founder of @projecteats Diya Vij (@_diyavij), Associate Curator at @creativetime Veronica Davidov (@nicadavidov), Visual and Environmental Anthropologist, PhD Karen Washington (@karwasher), Co-Founder, @blackurbangrowers and Co-Owner, @riseandrootfarm Candice Hopkins (@candicebhopkins), Curator and Executive Director of @forgeproject Haley Mellin (@haleymellin), Artist and Founder of Art to Acres Thelma Golden (@thelmagolden), Director and Chief Curator of @studiomuseum Father Mike Lopez (@hungrymonknyc), Founder of The Hungry Monk Rescue Truck and Monkworx Tremaine Emory (@tremaineemory), Founder of @denimtears and Creative Director of supreme Anicka Yi (@anickayi_studio), Artist Refreshments will be provided throughout the program by Chef Anya Peters of @kitankin.
