The PBS NewsHour’s longtime anchor and managing editor, Judy Woodruff said it’s “been the honor of a lifetime” to serve in that role.
Woodruff made her emotional remarks at the end of her last show as NewsHour’s anchor on Friday. Woodruff plans to stay on at PBS NewsHour in the role of senior correspondent at least through the 2024 elections, and she will also host a new segment for PBS NewsHour, “Judy Woodruff Presents: America at a Crossroads.”
“I step away now with a heart full of gratitude for this singular opportunity to share the most critical stories of our time,” she said in her final sign off.
Woodruff has solo-anchored the NewsHour since 2016. She and the late Gwen Ifill were named co-anchors in 2013.
Geoff Bennett and Amna Nawaz will succeed Woodruff and co-anchor PBS NewsHour starting in Jan. 2023.
