Baby bear gave us a scare yesterday. After a month on the road, hiking, paddling & probably lifting way to much weight in tables & chairs helping to set up for a wedding I could feel myself starting to crash as we left kitimat. After a 18 hour drive home with no ac we arrived home & I came down with a cold - fast forward a few hours and it progressed into back labour & extreme abdominal cramping. Jord convinced me to call the midwives in the late afternoon & they were concerned about preterm labour & wanted to admit me to the hospital. They respected my wishes to stay home as long as I could get the contractions under control.
There were a few moments where both Jordan & I thought baby boy was about to be delivered on the living room floor honestly - but we both stayed calm - even though Jordan later confessed he snuck away for a moment to puke because he was so stressed, I had no idea. He did everything I could have needed - applied counter pressure, massage, helped me walk the garden through the pain, & most importantly encouraged me & supported my decision.
After a very long day of extreme pain & a very long night we saw the midwives in clinic today - they checked myself & baby boy out & gave us the amazing news that both he & I are doing perfect. Heart rate perfect, sizing perfect, my blood tests came back perfect & blood pressure perfect. We also had a ultrasound to just confirm everything is looking good still.
Diagnosis for yesterdays situation is most likely a combination of lifting to much weight in extreme heat causing some trauma to my lower back and pelvic bone - relaxin makes it way easier to hurt yourself, add in being sick, & baby boy flipping into the birthing position my body just had a lot going on - such great news to hear he’s finally not breeched & has his head down ready to go but we keep telling him he needs a few more weeks!
I am currently on bed rest for the next week to let everything settle & give my body a much needed break. She said within a week I should be feeling much better but to remember whatever I think I can do maybe tone it back 50% as I’ve clearly been over doing it for awhile.
