An armed robber who shot a man in a brazen rush-hour mugging on a Union Square-bound subway had been on a whirlwind violent crime spree over the past few days, and was finally nabbed Tuesday after sticking up a bank, authorities said. A savvy NYPD sergeant heard the thief’s description over the police radio and realized it fit that of Monday’s subway shooter, prompting cops to search every train that approached the Union Square stop. The suspect was carrying three loaded handguns “nestled in a mound of $100 bills,” NYPD Chief of Transit Kathleen O’Reilly said. Photographed by @barrywilliamsnyc for @nydailynews .
